Colour palettes in Adobe Illustrator 4.x-CS

Through direct co-operation between Photoshop and PageMaker and work in the Postscript format, Illustrator is often the first choice when working with vector graphics. The colours can be output as full tones (decoration colours), RGB or CMYK optimizations, depending on what is desired at the time.

The adherence to this destination path is not necessary for the availability of the palettes in the program.
In this program variant the RGB palettes (sRGB, Trinitron) were defined in CMYK. To achieve this the neutral colour part was substituted by 100% Black (100% GCR).


Application in Adobe Illustrator 4.x

  1. Open one of the aforementioned colour files in Illustrator.
  2. Also open a new or already existing file in Illustrator.
  3. Go to "Object/Custom Color" and check the availability of the colours.
  4. Under "Object/Paint Style" you can now colour each element in your colour system.
  5. Design with your system and separate with Adobe Separator full tone or CMYK-process colour separations!

Application in Adobe Illustrator 7.x-10.x

  1. Open a new or already existing file in Illustrator.
  2. Go to "Window/ Swatch Libraries" and check the availability of the RAL colours.
  3. Open the RAL colour pool that meets your requirements.
  4. You can now colour each element in RAL colours.
  5. By the menu command "File/ Separation" you can separate full tone or CMYK-process colour separations!


Application in Adobe Illustrator CS

  1. Open a new or an existing Illustrator file.
  2. Click onto "Window/ Palettes/ Show Swatches".
  3. Click onto the right arrow in the swatches window, click "Open (swatch) library" and open the colour palette file thatfits your output device from the above mentioned directory .
  4. Design with your colour system!
